Eggs that you buy are "fresh eggs" or grade "A"
eggs. Shell and cuticle has
to be normal, clean and undamaged. The use-by date for fresh
eggs is 28 days
after laying. "Extra eggs" have to be sold before
9 days after laying.
Information on the packs is about the product you are purchasing
and some
helpful advices of keeping and eating this product. Check
and ask for this
information when you buy eggs sold in a case or individually.
This is a
warranty of quality and safety.
The label of eggs packs
Packs of eggs and eggs sold individually have to show this
information in a clear place:

1. Best Before Date:
It shall be indicated by two sets of figures representing,
in the following order: the day, from 01 to 31, and the
month, from 01 to 12.
2. Advice of storage
An advice to store eggs in the fridge.
3. Number of eggs sold.
4. Name and address of the packing centre or
producer.
5. Grade depending on weight.
XL: 73 g. and over.
L: from 63g. up to 73 g.
M: from 53g. up to 63 g.
S: under 53 g.

7. Number of the packing centre.
Code featuring nine numbers, in Spain they begin by
1114... and the Department of Health and Consume provides
this official authorization number.

In eggs sold individually, clients have to be shown
a note or a sign with the grade, quality and weight,
as well as the packing centre identification, best before
date, storage advices, and the origin country (on imported
eggs).
